Kristen posts a tribute to the 80’s every Wednesday that I thoroughly look forward to. In my opinion, the 80’s produced the best movies and music of all time and for me, life in general was just plain fun. This week, she highlighted the movie, Mannequin, featuring Andrew McCarthy (yes I had a little crush on him) and Kim Cattrall - who knew she’d become a sex symbol on Sex In The City?!
To answer your question Kristen, YES, I am a closet Mannequin fan. And I LOVED the hit song, “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now“. In fact, I wanted to play this song at my wedding recessional, but my hubbie vetoed, and as fitting as I think the song was, “I’m A Believer” by Smash Mouth worked out just fine.
One of the reasons my husband and I avoid the beach these days is because we have young kids. It’s such a chore to get from the hotel room to the beach. And it never fails. After half an hour of preparing and gathering (slather the spf, get the kids dressed in their suits, gather the floaties, the bucket, shovel and sand castle toys, towels, chairs - I don’t know why, it’s not as if you can actually sit in them. Umbrella. What else? Oh yea, sunglasses, I always forget the sunglasses.) to get out the door, not 5 minutes after hitting the beach, (after trekking through the thick beach sand, sweat rolling down our foreheads and the spf now burning our eyes) you’re running a kid back to the hotel because they have sand in their eyes (or they gotta go #2)! Oy!
Leigh just recently submitted the best tip that I have seen in a long time to Tip Junkie (one of my favorite bloggers that I follow) regarding baby powder and it’s other benefits. Apparantley, just a sprinkle of baby powder loosens the sand from the hands. Who knew??!! Now if I can just train them to sprinkle before they wipe their eyes, they’ll be no more emergency trips back to the hotel room!!
Thanks Leigh for this great tip and if my husband and I ever decide to brave the beach with the little ones, the baby powder will definitely be in the bag!!!!
